9 Days Uganda Vacation

Day 1. Arrive at Entebbe international air port and overnight in Entebbe where the president’s office is situated and Uganda’s old capital.

Day 2. Visit mabamba bay in search of the shoebill. Mabamba is a RAMSAR site located west of Entebbe town on lake Victoria for the conservation of the wetland wild life and birds. We take a motorized boat trip maneuvering in the narrow network of trails in the papyrus bed in search of the shoebill and animals such as sitatungas and other little species. Other seeable birds are the African marsh harier, purple swamphen, African jacana, lesser jacana, blue breasted bee eater, white faced whistling ducks, black and white casqued hornbills among more and transfer to Kibale national park. We continue with birding along the way to try among many the bat hawk/bird which preys on bats.

Day 3. We wake up ready for the primate watch in the primate world of Africa. We start from the briefing point, where the rangers take us through the prerequisites, the dos and don’ts while on the chimpanzee trekking. Kibale forest is known to be the richest park in terms of difference in bio diversity and species of primates with over thirteen of them. There are monkeys, bush babies, potos and baboons. After a successful trek, we ransfer to queen Elizabeth national park in the afternoon for an overnight.

Day 4. We do a morning game drive in search of the lions, leopards, while we also do some birding. Our plan is to go for an afternoon boat cruise on kazinga channel as well, this is a natural channel which connects lake Edward to lake George on the DRCongo boarder in fantastic views of Rwenzori mountains after a clear weather.
Kazinga channel is rich with alot of water and savannah animals which gather in a hot afternoon on the shores for cooling.

Day 5. We drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park. We drive through Ishasha sector where there is a hideout for the tree climbing lions and topis. Our plan is to relieve our long time excitement with a look at a mountain gorilla.

Day 6. We prepare for gorilla tracking early enough as this is one of the unique and challenging activities. Ready with our equipments, rain gear, tracking shoes and our picnic lunch boxes together with a minimum of one and a half litres of water, we proceed for briefing presented by the rangers where they remind us about our preparedness and behaviour when we set off for the gorillas. This activity is some times as short as three hours and may also be as long as a six to nine hours trek. Once we are successful, we graduate at the end of the challenge. We have had no failure ever since our time of operation so your success is 87% guaranteed regardless of your fitness since we have a mechanism for those who may be movement impaired.

Day 7. Transfer to lake Bunyonyi for a relaxation on one of the Africa’s spectacular and historical lakes. Bunyonyi literally means small birds, there fore the first inhabiters named it an area of many small birds implying that it is rich in bird Life. It is between 40-900m deep with about 29 different islands among the famous punishment island. We do a boat trip to these several historical islands while we do birding. We visit the communities and experience the life of the strongest and energetic tribe of Uganda in the Switzerland of Africa along Rwanda boarder.

Day 8. Drive to lake Mburo national park, our other site with different habitat settings which offers diverse in species, we take about 4hours driving on a good tarmac belt. Do a game drive before going to the lodge to see the common species of this area which include the rare elands, giraffes, Ankole long horned cattle, jenets and leopards on a night game drive.

Day 9. After breakfast, we go for our second chance game viewing, we search for the Uganda’s unique elands, Dwarf mongooses, ground squirrels, Ankole long horned cows, zebras, among a rich savannah, forest and shore birding where we can see the bare faced go away bird, white crested turaco, lilac breasted roller, red faced burbet and so on. We then proceed to Kampala and Entebbe international airport after making a stop over at the equator where we buy our souvenirs and enjoy our lunch.
